Reference Sires of Macarn Farm

Apollon, the best-known Danish Knabstrupper stallion in the world, stands in Germany at Gestuet-Falkenhorst

When they decided to introduce the Knabstrupper to the United States, Mike & Caroline wanted only the best stallion to cross on their mares. That stallion was Apollon. This 16.3 hand Danish Knabstrupper stallion was born in Denmark and then purchased by Gwen Gregorio and taken to her Gestuet-Falkenhorst in Germany, where he stands to European mares. Mike & Caroline arranged for the first frozen semen from this wonderful stallion to be brought to the United States. Apollon’s offspring are known for their wonderful athletic abilities and gentle temperaments. He has numerous approved sons standing at stud in Europe and the United Kingdom, including Centyfield Farm’s Hamlet Freydenlund. We are hopeful that one of our mares will give us a son just like him!

And Sires of the Next Generation

Tzigane - As happens many times in Denmark, we have chosen to breed one of our Knabstrupper mares by Apollon (born here in America) to a top Trakehner stallion.  Apollon, himself, was half-Trakehner and this has long been considered a good outcross.  Therefore, Macarns First Encore ("Annie") was bred in 2005 to the wonderful Tzigane.  This cross resulted in the birth of a loud dark bay near leopard filly in 2006 we named Tzarina. We liked her so much we bred Annie back in 2006 to Tzigane for a 2007 foal.  Visit Tzigane at his website to learn more about him.
